This is required when applying for the EU long-term resident permit. You meet this requirement if you hold:
• a state certificate of proficiency in the Polish language at a level of at least B1. This certificate is issued by the State Commission for the Certification of Proficiency in Polish as a Foreign Language. More information can be found at certyfikatpolski.pl;
• a language certificate issued by one of the following institutions:
a) European Consortium for the Certificate of Attainment in Modern Languages (ECL),
b) telc GmbH, WBT Weiterbildungs-Testsysteme GmbH (TELC);
c) a certificate issued by a university* after completing courses in Polish as a foreign language or another form of Polish language education, confirming Polish language proficiency in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR);
• a certificate of entitlement to work as a sworn translator issued by the Minister of Justice based on the model specified in the regulations of the Act of 25 November 2004 on the Profession of Sworn Translator (Journal of Laws of 2019, item 1326), or a certificate confirming entry on the list of sworn translators;
• a school graduation certificate from an educational institution in the Republic of Poland, as defined in Article 2(2) of the Education Law of 14 December 2016 (Journal of Laws of 2021, item 1082, as amended), or from a university with Polish as the language of instruction, as defined in the Act of 20 July 2018 — Law on Higher Education and Science;
• a school or university graduation certificate from abroad, where Polish was the language of instruction, and the institution corresponds to a school or university under Polish law (the Act of 20 July 2018 — Law on Higher Education and Science).
*approved by the minister responsible for internal affairs for the purpose of admitting foreigners to undertake or continue studies, in accordance with Article 144(4) of the Act of 12 December 2013 on Foreigners (Journal of Laws of 2024, items 769, 185, and 547), or not subject to approval pursuant to Article 144(5) of the Act, and with regard to which no decision has been issued prohibiting the admission of foreigners, as referred to in Article 144a(1) of the Act.
