When should I apply?

You should apply for a temporary Polish travel document if:

  • you do not hold any valid travel document, and
  • you do not have any possibility to obtain one, 
    and you plan to leave Poland, or you have received a decision obligating you to return to your country of origin. 

You can apply for a temporary Polish travel document if you hold:

You may apply on behalf of a minor foreigner if you are their parent or guardian appointed by the court or one of the parents or one of the guardians appointed by the court.

Where to submit the application?

You may submit the application at the Opole Voivodeship Office, Department for Civil Affairs and Foreigners
or send the paper version of the application by post.

What documents do I need to provide with the application

•    An application for the issuance of a temporary Polish travel document for a foreigner in 1 copy, completed in accordance with the instructions (download the application form);
•    A recent photograph;
•    Documents necessary to confirm the data and circumstances stated in the application (e.g., documents confirming the impossibility of obtaining a travel document from your country of origin, documents confirming statelessness, the decision granting subsidiary protection in the territory of Poland or a permit to stay for humanitarian reasons);
•    A confirmation of registered residence for permanent or temporary stay.

The fee for issuing the document is PLN 50.
The reduced fee is PLN 25.
You are entitled to the reduced fee if you are:
•    a university (or other higher education unit) student,
•    a secondary school student,
•    a minor under 16 years of age,
•    in a difficult financial situation.

What should I know?

A temporary Polish travel document is issued to a foreigner

  • in Poland - by the Governor competent for your place of stay,
  • in case you are obliged to leave the territory of the Republic of Poland - the relevant Chief of the Border Guard branch.

The temporary Polish travel document for a foreigner is valid for the period indicated therein, however, not longer than 7 days and during its validity entitles you to leave the territory of Poland.

The document shall be collected in person at the Foreigners’ Service Centre of the Opole Provincial Office.

When collecting a document issued to a minor over 13 years of age, his/her presence is required. When a residence card has been issued to a minor under 13 years of age by the date of its receipt, the card shall be collected by his legal representative or guardian.

To pick up the document, bring a valid travel document and previous document if issued.
