Photographs/EU citizens

Photographs must be undamaged, in colour, and of good quality; 35 mm × 45 mm in size; taken no earlier than 6 months before the date of submitting the application. They must show the face of the EU citizen or their family member from the top of the head to the upper part of the shoulders, so that the face occupies 70–80% of the photograph; the eyes, especially the pupils, must be clearly visible; the eye line should be parallel to the top edge of the photograph. The photo must be taken against a plain, light background, in a frontal view, showing the person looking straight ahead, with eyes open and not covered by hair, with a neutral facial expression and closed mouth, and with natural skin tone. If the applicant has a congenital or acquired visual impairment, the photograph may show the person wearing dark glasses. If the applicant wears head covering in accordance with the rules of their religion, the photograph may show the person wearing such head covering. The head covering must not cover or distort the oval of the face.
